A Scandinavian shelving system designed to make all your storage problems go away. The shelving system allows you to build the shelf of your dreams. Create your own unique combination with a mixture of metal shelves and wooden shelves. Or have fun with colours and accessories. The possibilities are endless. The String shelving system is widely known for its characteristic wire panels, designed by architect Nisse Strinning and Kajsa Strinning back in 1949. However, there are more options than the iconic wire panels. Nisse and Kajsa also designed panels completely in plex. The plex panels launched in 1954 and were the first major complement to the String system. The wire panels and plex panels have distinctly different expressions, but they have the common denominator of classic Scandinavian design.

The String shelf - a timeless design classic from 1949
Some pieces of furniture become more than just interior - they become symbols of an entire era and a timeless design classic. The String shelf is such a piece of furniture. Created in 1949 by Swedish design couple Kajsa and Nisse Strinning, the String shelf has become an icon in Scandinavian design. With its minimalist form, flexible function and elegant simplicity, it fits into any home and space, while offering an almost infinite variety.
Flexibility and function - design your own String System
The String shelf, or String System as the range is called, is more than just a shelf. It's a modular shelving system that can be adapted to any need and space, whether it's a small kitchen, a workspace, or a large living room. Thanks to its thoughtful design, the shelves can be easily expanded, modified and customized to meet your specific storage needs. The String shelf allows you to be creative and create a personalized solution that grows and changes over time.
Scandinavian design and the timeless popularity of the String shelf
The ingenious simplicity of the String shelf has ensured that it retains its place as a modern classic, even today. Nisse and Kajsa Strinning were inspired by functionality and form, and their shelving system has come to define what we associate with Scandinavian design today - clean lines, function and attention to detail. For decades, String shelves have been a part of everyday life in Swedish homes, and now, more than 75 years later, they continue to be a symbol of timeless design and stylish function.
