A conversation with Fredrik Wallner, Interior Designer and Concept Developer
The brief was to design a workspace that could accommodate several Sony companies with different needs, from larger, well-established labels to smaller, more niche players. The result is a dynamic office where newly made furniture is combined with curated auction finds and reused elements. Sony products from different decades help strengthen the identity and create a cohesive, lived-in feel. The project was completed in close collaboration with property owner Atrium Ljungberg, with all material choices meeting strict sustainability and energy efficiency requirements.
String Furniture played a key role in creating a cohesive and flexible look throughout. The architectural tone of the Pira shelving system echoes the building’s clean-lined aesthetic and pairs especially well with the character of the historic Katarinahuset. By combining various wood types and colours across the String System and Pira, the team created smooth transitions between furniture from different manufacturers which contributing to a unified, well-balanced interior.
Selected colours from the Museum Collection added contrast and energy to an otherwise muted palette, especially when paired with soft textiles and reused details. The end result is a workspace where function and aesthetics go hand in hand and is tailored for a diverse company with high expectations on both design and sustainability.
